An English Waltz
04:17
|
|||
As I was walking out one day I saw a fine young girl
She neever turned her eyes my way, but still I heard her words
“Oh what I’d give to see my dreams come true, I’d give my heart
If such a man the Lord would send the strength to make his mark”
Carried away from he wind and the rain
Do put your small hand in mine
And together we’ll leave for a new better place
Where the sun always will shine
Then one day I saw her face again upon the street
And just by chance heard her words whisered on the beeze
“A soldier, a tailor, a man of the cloth, it doesn't matter to me
As long as his heart and his soul speak the truth I know I’ll always be free”
Carried away from he wind and the rain
Do put your small hand in mine
And together we’ll leave for a new better place
Where the sun always will shine
Last night I had the strangest dream, I dreamt I heard her sing
A melody that beckoned me and drew me closer in
Around her neck she held a cross of silver ass she sang
And I did feel a spell on me as through the streets I ran
Carried away from he wind and the rain
Do put your small hand in mine
And together we’ll leave for a new better place
Where the sun always will shine

Two Lovers
01:44
|
|||
Two lovers in the sun, careless love
And evenings drinking wine
Stars light up the night, up the sky
He met her in the park beneath the stars
And time it moved so fast, too fast
They held each other tight, their last goodbye

Seagull
02:50
|
|||
Round and round the wheel is turning
Round and round the seagull flies
Beats a rhythm with the seasons
Like the sun she’ll rise and fall
There the seagull flies
Clouds hang heavy with the rainfall
Sun is shining on the graves
Overgrown and long forgotten
‘Hide & Seek’ the children play
There the seagull flies
All the shops are closed for winter
The lonely sea is cold and dark
Swirling deep beneath her small feet
A young girl with a broken heart
There the seagull flies

She was naked on the bed smoking cigarettes
I wondered when she’d leave, I wondered ‘How did we meet?’
And a soft warm breeze blew through the hotel suite
As she read a short account of the death of Bessie Smith
